Rover and Ranger started from 12 March 2024 in Swargiya Shree Madan Mohan Upadhyay  Swatantrata  Sangram   Senani  Govt.   P. G. College ,   located  in  the picturesque  region  of   Dwarahat,  Almora,  Uttarakhand,  is  renowned  for    its academic excellence and commitment to holistic development. Among its many commendable programs,  the  Rover  and  Ranger  initiative   stands out as a key    element in nurturing leadership, community service, and personal growth among students.  Under  the  able  coordination of Dr. Asha B. Parchey, this program has become a cornerstone of student engagement and development at the college.     

Overview of the Rover and Ranger Program

The Rover and Ranger program, part of the Bharat Scouts and Guides movement, is designed to foster  a  spirit  of  adventure,  leadership, and social responsibility among young individuals. This  initiative  provides  students with opportunities to participate  in  a  range  of  activities  that contribute  to  their overall  growth  and prepare them to be responsible and active members of society.

Objectives and Goals

The Rover and Ranger program at Swargiya Shree Madan Mohan Upadhyay College aims to:

  1. Develop Leadership Skills: The program focuses on enhancing students’ leadership abilities through various training activities and responsibilities, helping them make informed decisions and solve problems effectively.
  2. Promote Community Service: Students are encouraged to engage in community service projects, such as health camps, environmental clean- ups, and educational outreach, thereby contributing positively to their local environment.
  3. Enhance Practical Skills: The program offers practical training in essential skills such as first aid, survival techniques, and event management, which are beneficial both personally and professionally.
  4. Foster Personal Growth: Participation in the program helps students build self-confidence, resilience, and teamwork, which are crucial for their personal and professional and professional lives.

Eligibility and Membership

  1. Eligibility Criteria: Any regular student of Swargiya Shree Madan Mohan Upadhyay Swatantrata  Sangram  Senani  Govt. P. G. College  who is between the ages of 15 and 25 can apply for the  Rover and Ranger program. The student should maintain a  good  academic  record  and  demonstrate  discipline  and  enthusiasm for extracurricular activities.
  2. Application Process: Interested students need to apply through the college's official channel  for the Rover and Ranger   The application process typically involves filling out an application form, undergoing a selection process which may include a written test and interview, and demonstrating involvement in previous related activities. Selected candidates then undergo an orientation and training session conducted by Dr. Asha B. Parchey, the program coordinator.

Key Activities and Programs

  1. Adventure Camps: Students participate in adventure camps that include activities such as trekking, rock climbing, and wilderness survival. These camps are designed to be both exciting and educational, fostering teamwork and resilience.
  2. Community Outreach: Regular community service initiatives are organized, focusing on addressing local needs such as health and hygiene, environmental conservation, and education for underprivileged groups.
